Will Qatar deal the final blow in the dismissal of Moncef Marzouki?

Moncef Marzouki seems to have galvanised opposition against him by increasingly erratic statements which have drawn widespread criticism. These have included threatening Tunisia's secular opposition with hanging if they dare criticise Qatar's role in the country.
Will Qatar deal the final blow in the dismissal of Moncef Marzouki?
The question raised by an article in the business magazine African Management is whether he any longer measures up to the expectations  of the Tunisian people as their interim president. The article criticised him for his exuberant display of the cheque for money recovered from Leila Trabelsi's account inthe Lebanon without crediting theChairman of the Committee responsible for the repatriation of the money and the Qatari lawyer who completed his work which was sanctioned and paid for by the United Nations .

The silence of the Troika and Ennahdha in particular,  faced by these presidential actions and words  is significant and his actions have yet shaken the entire political class and intelligentsia  inTunisia, the article says. Whilst the first censure attempt  in the National Consituent Asssembly failed because a number of MP's who were signatories backed out but the article says that a second motion may succeed.

The decline in the popularity of Qatar is bound to its unconditional support for the Islamist party governing at the expense of a more secular modernist and democratic Tunisia, the article asserts, saying that it is beginning to unite the opposition. If the measure against the interim president goes ahead the article asserts that Qatar will eventually give the final death blow to the interim president, as his powers are failing and he is becoming an embarrasement. The article concludes the Moncef Marzouki has failed to act like a president and lacks the authority at home to take effective action against poverty and unemployment. It suggests a yearning for the days when a Tunisian president such as Habib Bourgiba or even Ben Ali could decide things with a single word or order.
