Montreal - The visit to the Moroccan Sahara by a high-level US delegation is a further illustration of the depth of relations between Morocco and the United States, said the president of the Moroccan Jewish community in Toronto, Simon Keslassy. The visit, which took place few weeks following the US recognition of the Kingdom's sovereignty over its Sahara, and which was led by the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, David Schenker, is "the best response to the enemies of the territorial integrity of Morocco," Keslassy told MAP.

In this regard, he underlined the deep bonds of friendship between the Kingdom and the United States, a relationship that has developed over the years regardless of the political background of the White House. The visit of the US delegation was marked by the signing of cooperation agreements in several sectors that will benefit both countries and contribute to the economic development of the region, Keslassy pointed out. The upcoming opening of a US consulate in Dakhla, he said, shows the US commitment to ending the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
