Visit by group of Spanish Mps to Laayoune is individual initiative

The Spanish parliament has said it is not responsible for the trip, said speakers of the House of Representatives and of the chamber of advisors, Karim Ghellab and Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, pointing out that the Moroccan parliament was surprised by this visit to Laayoune by five Spanish legislators.

"The legislators' individual initiatives is unfortunately not in line with the cooperation ties existing between the two legislative institutions and the remarkable and exemplary bonds that have been consolidated by the 2nd Morocco-Spain parliamentary forum held on September 23-24 in Madrid", a joint release by the two officials said calling for "coordinating positions of the two parliaments in various encounters over issues of common interest".

The two speakers says they have contacted their Spanish peers Jesus Posada Morino and Pio Garcia Escudero Marquez who made it clear that they are not aware of the visit and that they consider the trip as an "individual initiative".
