Tunisia : Unprecedented violence

Samedi 3 Novembre 2012

Tunisia is going through an extremely difficult period. It faces a hideous ogre who threatens relative and fragile stability acquired after the elections and disrupts the process of democratic transition in the discussion phase of the project of the new Constitution.
Tunisia : Unprecedented violence
But it is a violence that has no reason to be, since the historic elections last year and the restoration of the legitimacy of state institutions.

It is a violence that has many facets, but its gravity has evolved crescendo the day after the elections, from bidding policies towards demonization between rival political forces, reaching its peak with the use of political assassination, perpetrated two weeks ago in Tataouine. It is each time certainly reprehensible, but isolated in space and different in their originality. The latest took place the day before yesterday in favor of an unprecedented escalation in the history of Tunisia when a "jihadist" openly and directly called for a holy war in the name of Islam, of course. However, the majority party that ruled the country refers to Islam and is considered among the Islamist movement. Yet the Prophet Muhammad has warned Muslims to kill stating that "if two Muslims fight, both are in hell." However, the majority of Tunisians are Muslim and they are known for their hospitality, peaceful spirit and their high degree of civility and education.

Why the upsurge of violence?

It is obvious that after the departure of the dictator, the country, which is a geostrategic importance is coveted by global forces known for their tendency imperialist ambitions to control the most sensitive areas to serve their interests. But without palpable arguments, we restrict ourselves humbly to the truth  which is readable on the ground. The country is won by an obscure Wahhabism, bounded and very creative in its interpretation of the sacred text to impose by force a fixed view of the world and living which is strange to Tunisians who are open by nature and have been so during civilizations throughout history.

This phenomenon is proliferating across the country, fed by a lax and complacent paternalism  and compassion, lined up with a view to recovering "children" instead of throwing them in jail since their early manifestations Faculty of Manouba, a year ago.

Another catalyst, the opposition, who does not hesitate to amplify this phenomenon to draw a dividend policy is also responsible, be it by pushing its speech and the polarization maintaining the idea that Salafism is none other than the radical wing of Ennahdha and without deciding the issue of secularism, nor of the Sharia.

Result: the country is more than ever threatened by hatred and violence, as it has in hand the ingredients of a successful revolution unprecedented in the history of mankind. Why is there this division in the face a common threat that is violence?
