Tunisia FDI's up 42.8 % in first 5 months of 2012

Foreign investments including FDI's and Portfolio's reached 942.3 million dinars at the end of the first five months of 2012 recodring a 42.8 per cent rise against th same period in 2011 and 14.4 pe cent in comparison with 2010 according to the external investment development agency FIPA.

It recorded that 62 new firms started production and 115 extensions were carried out which helped create 6,125 new jobs and   up 20 per cent in comparison with 2011.

 According to FIPA , foreign investments were 890.4 million Tunisian Dinars(TDs) in FDI's and 88 million TDs in portfolios.against 632.2 million TDs in FDI's and 27.6 million TDs in portfolios in the first 5 months of 2011.

FDI's recorded a 40.8 per cent rise as against 2011aand 12.4 per cent in the same period in 2010.

Analysis of the FDI's showed that the  energy sector received 490 million TDs and manufacturing industries 212 milllion TDS.

Tunisian FDI was down 26.3 per cent in the first seven months of 2011. Job creation remains the Tunisian government's greatest challenge with 800,000 young unemployed.
