This operation aims to create an inventory historical artifacts discovered at the site of the ancient Roman city, "Usinadis" current "old Saneg", in preparation for transfer to a more secure location, said Mr. Miloud Belheniche . A total of thirty five archaeological finds, including jars, capitals, column bases and a shelf on which Latin inscriptions appear, have been identified by the team in charge of the inventory, he added. Each inventory item has a fact sheet that will ensure its traceability, in case of theft, and will also serve as a working tool in the excavations that the Directorate of Culture hopes engage, as soon as possible, on this site, threatened by the encroachment of concrete construction, said Belheniche.

The other concern raised by this charge, relates to the risk that this important part of national heritage material  could disappear forever due to lack of  a suitable, secure structure where all material found on this site or elsewhere can be kept.

In this connection, he recalled that the objects found at the site of this ancient Roman city, founded around 205 by the Emperor Septimius Severus  (246-201), are stored for several years in a single localation by the Saneg commune, stressing the urgency of providing the sector with a structure to preserve this heritage and develop it.
