On Friday  the  Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) bloc granted Mali's interim rulers at least 10 more days to form a national  unity government. The original deadline expired last Tuesday. President Dioncounda Traore returned  to Mali from Paris after a two month absence for medical treatment.
