The Chilean visual artist Carmen Letelier exhibits her works on Morocco in Santiago

Santiago - La Ciudad Roja. El Hamra (Red City. El Hamra) is the title of an exhibition by Chilean visual artist and specialist in art therapy, Carmen Royem Letelier, openedon Thursday night at the hall of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Santiago.

Her works presented in this exhibition consist of 18 reproductions of pages from the book by Letelier Carmen, La Ciudad Roja. El Hamra, considered a travel journal, and whose writings, images, drawings and paintings revolve around the central theme, Morocco.

El Hamra, Derb Chouf Fountain, Marrakech, Medersa Ben Youssef, Marrakech, Salome, Mazagan, K For Katharine, Merzuga, 2005 Otono are among the titles of the works exhibited by the artist, through the use of different techniques.

Graduate in Arts of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, visual artist Carmen Letelier has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including Giotto in Marrakech, solo exhibition held in 2007 at the Galerie Black on White, Marrakech.

In 2002, she released the fragmentada muneca (fragmented doll), an autobiographical novel written in poetic prose, followed by El cielo guarda memoria (memory guard the sky) in 2012 and Vestida Costuras sin (seamless wearing) in 2013.

Carmen Letelier worked in the workshop of art therapy, along with the team of Child Psychiatry at Luis Calvo Mackenna hospital, and worked in the therapeutic education of children with chronic diseases at the University Hospital Health Center in Denver, Colorado, United States.

The opening of the exhibition took place in the presence of the Ambassador of Morocco to Chile, Abdelkader Chaoui Loudiyi and representatives from the world of arts and culture, as well as a large Chilean public.

This exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Chile and Morocco Mohammed VI Centre for the dialogue of civilizations, will continue until the end of April.
