Terrorist Cell Dismantled in Nador and Berkane: Two Sites Where Explosive Manufacturing Experiments Were Conducted Located in Driouch Province, Interior Ministry

Rabat, 09/09/2019 (MAP) - Search operations under way by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the Directorate General of Territory Surveillance (DGST), following the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to ISIS on Sept. 5 in Berkane and Nador, enabled to locate two sites in a mountainous area at Imchtassen village, in Dar al-Kabdani commune (Driouch province), where the cell members conducted explosive manufacturing experiments, said a statement from the Interior Ministry.

The search operations and findings conducted on site on Monday helped seize the remains of a pressure cooker, a metal tube, electrical cables and nails used in experimental operations to manufacture a distance explosive, said the same source, adding that medium-sized plastic tubes were also seized in the house of one of the suspects, located in Selouane (Nador province), which will be submitted to scientific expertise. The investigation under way since the arrest of the suspects revealed their involvement in the planning of executing several terrorist projects targeting sensitive sites in the Kingdom. The suspects will be brought to justice once the investigation is completed under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the statement said.
