Teaching and ICT: Taalim.ma migrates to Microsoft Office 365

The Ministry of Education and Microsoft are committed, under an agreement signed on Tuesday in Rabat, to migrate educational platform "Taalim.ma" to Microsoft Office 365.

The agreement, signed by the Minister of National Education, Mohamed El Ouafa and general manager of Microsoft Morocco, Samir Benmakhlouf, also aims to train and certify nearly 300,000 teaching staff over the next four years, through the establishment of training centers and certification, Microsoft IT Academy.

The ceremony was marked by the presence of  Abdellah Baha Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Executive Training and Scientific Research, the Korean ambassador to Morocco and Abdessalam Ahizoune CEO of Maroc Telecom and other personalities from the world of education and information technology.

This migration will benefit in terms of facilities and new software some 7.5 million students, teachers and members of the administrative body of the Ministry.

Office 365 for education, integratedin the platform "Taalim.ma" consists of online versions of communication services and the latest generation Microsoft collaboration such as as Sharepoint for document management for conferences and Lync Online.

Under this partnership, Microsoft is also committed to train 500 super trainers from the Ministry of Education and to launch the certification program and ICT for education centers in 137 IT Academy.

One of the centers of the Microsoft IT Academy was inaugurated at the Centre Moroccan Korean ICT training (CMCF) during the signing ceremony of the agreement.

The Program of ICTs in education in Morocco (GENIE), which aims to equip 9,260 schools with multimedia rooms, aims to improve the quality of education, said the head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane in a speech read on his behalf by the Minister of State, Abdellah Baha.

Some 85% of public schools were connected to the Internet since its launch in September 2005 GENIE, Benkirane said on this occasion, referring to the acquisition of 90 pc of digital resources.

He also noted the creation of FFHC National Laboratory digital resources and digital portal national www.portailtice.ma.

Referring to the Action Plan 2013-2016 GENIE program, he said that the government bet on improving the quality of teaching and teacher performance, calling on all stakeholders to assume their responsibilities for the rooms media are available.

E-learning is a  "very important part (of the partnership) and will allow us to provide training for users of ICT distance," said for his part, El Ouafa, emphasizing the need for training continuing these techniques is expected to improve the provision of public education.

From his part, Mr. Benmakhlouf stressed that this partnership helps to provide the Ministry of National Education "all the tools necessary for the democratisation of ICT in the educational environment."

It should be noted that the technical messaging platformTaalim.ma (accessible from the email address www.taalim.ma), previously based on technology live @ edu, will migrate from the end of March 2013 Technology Office 365. It offers members of the educational community space dedicated to email and other personal online storage of 25 GB

With this platform, the body may receive educational information regularly CTBT most of the day ICT provided by the National Laboratory for digital resources and access to all digital resources acquired or developed by the program of ICTs for education in Morocco (GENIE).

This platform is also an entry for communication and data collection projects (e-services) undertaken within the framework of the Information System Department.
