Steel industry needs support measures to adapt to challenges of international competitiveness, FIMME president

Paris - The steel sector requires support measures to adapt to the challenges of international competitiveness, said president of the Moroccan Federation of mechanical and electro-metallurgical industries (FIMME), Abdelhamid Souiri.

"The steel industry is going through tough times," he said in an interview published on the website of French weekly "L'Usine Nouvelle", stressing the importance to implement support measures for all stakeholders in the sector to address this situation. "We consider this industry as essential. We need to keep it competitive. We do not want to find ourselves later facing even greater difficulties for the entire industry," he said, noting that the federation is working on tracks that will allow the sector to be more competitive.
