Start of construction of a Moroccan diplomatic and consular complex in Nouakchott

Nouakchott: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Saad El Dine Otmani conducted on Monday in Nouakchott, the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a Moroccan diplomatic and consular complex .

The ceremony was attended by the Mauritanian Foreign Minister Hamadi Ould Hamadi Baba, Ambassador of Morocco to Nouakchott, Abderrahmane Benomar, Mayor Tefregh Zeina, ambassadors of Algeria and Tunisia,and members the Moroccan community in Mauritania.

The complex will be built in 18 months, according to the standards of authentic Moroccan architecture over 10,000 m2 in area Tefregh Zeina.

It consists of two buildings, one dedicated to diplomatic affairs and the other for Consular and Social Affairs, as well as a garden and a residence for the ambassador.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, El Otmani said that the future building is an appropriate framework able to "contribute to the consolidation of the historical relations between the two countries."

This is to ensure a better workspace for members of the diplomatic missions accredited in the Mauritanian capital in order to enable them to fulfill their functions and meet the needs of the Moroccan community.
