Speaker of lower house meets president of UK parliament foreign-affairs committee

The two sides discussed means to strengthen cooperation between the House of Representatives and the British Parliament, as well as several issues of common interest, including the situation in the Sahel-Saharan region, the house said in a statement.
Ghellab surveyed the latest developments in the Sahara issue, insisting that Morocco is seeking a final settlement of the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, given the dangerous security situation in the Sahel-Saharan region that is subject to threats of terrorist and separatist organizations.
The kingdom was among the first countries to warn against the dangerous situation in the region, he said.
For his part, Ottaway (Conservative party) said that his trip to Morocco comes shortly before the presentation by the Foreign Affairs Committee of its report on the political situation in the Sahel region.
He welcomed in this regard the efforts exerted by Morocco to establish peace and security in the area, including in Mali.
