Speaker of Belgian House of Representatives welcomes Morocco's decision to adopt new immigration and asylum law

"I commend the Royal initiative for an appropriate strategy and work plan, in coordination with the national human rights council and other competent authorities, in order to formulate a comprehensive immigration policy", said the Belgian official in a release.

Flahaut said he took note of the "important" recommendations and conclusions contained in the national human rights council's report and in the Royal office release, stressing that the migration issue is a universal issue and has a specific interest for Morocco which is "a land of emigration and immigration".

HM King Mohammed VI instructed this week the government to examine the issue of immigration and formulate a new comprehensive policy that respects the rights of immigrants, to strictly abide by the law in their treatment and to assist those wishing to return to their country.
