Spanish PM Highlights Morocco's 'Strategic' Role in Fighting Illegal Immigration
Madrid - Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, highlighted, on Wednesday before the Congress of Deputies, Morocco's "strategic" role in the fight against illegal immigration.
Morocco has made a "decisive and effective" contribution to minimizing the impact of the humanitarian tragedy of illegal immigration, Sanchez said at a session to inform deputies of Spain's position at the European Council meeting, scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Brussels.
He added that Spain will receive more funds from the European Union (EU) to strengthen its dialogue and cooperation with countries of origin and transit of illegal immigration.
Sanchez stressed, in this sense, that certain countries of origin and transit of migrants, which collaborate in the management of migratory flows towards Europe, as is the case of Morocco, also need more funds to face this phenomenon.
