Madrid - Spanish interior minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz hailed, on Saturday, Morocco's collaboration to fight illegal immigration.

Fernandez Diaz, who was speaking at a forum of the People's Party (in power) in Hospitalet (north-east Spain), commended his country's collaboration on the matter with some African states namely Morocco which contributed to decreasing the number of illegal immigrants in the Spanish shores over the past years.

The number of illegal immigrants who arrived in Spain aboard makeshift boats totaled 4,000 people in 2012, against 40,000 in 2006 he said, noting that during the year 2012 the lowest illegal immigrants' arrivals in Spain was recorded in the last decade.
