Singapore stocks close 1.22 pct higher

Singapore - Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.22 percent, or 30.47 points, to close at 2,530.30. A total of 1.16 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.35 billion Singapore dollars (about 951.58 million U.S. dollars). gainers outnumbered losers by 318 to 137. The STI index went down 2.17 percent, or 55.51 points, to close at 2,499.83 on last Friday. Stocks trading in Singapore Exchange was suspended on Monday for the Hari raya.
