Seychelles issues clarification on reported arrest of Sakhr El Matri

Following numerous press reports that the son-in-law of the former President of Tunisia had been detained in the Seychelles, the Seychellois government has clarified the situation.

The Ministry of TourismandCulture confirmed that Mr. Sakhr El Matri was briefly questioned at the Seychelles International Airport upon his arrival.
 
Mr. El Matri was granted entry, but it should be noted that the he has already subsequently left the Seychelles. Mr. El Matri was not arrested as was reported by some international media.
 
The government has taken note of a request tabled by the Tunisian government to deport Mr. El Matri to face charges in Tunisia.
