"The duty of neighbourhood, brotherhood and friendship command us to ensure them (Malians) of our solidarity, help and assistance in the fight against terrorism and organized crime," he said, APS reported.

In this regard he underlined that the ANP, as a Republican institution of the Algerian State "is in full line with the firm and clear positions adopted by the highest political authority, and considers that the solution to the Malian crisis can only be political, decided by Malians and in accordance with their national interests as a sovereign nation," he added.

At the end of the CEMOC meeting, the chiefs of staff of member states had signed the minutes before they met the Mauritanian president.

The ordinary session of CEMOC was devoted to the examination of the current situation in the sub-region, in the light of the recent developments, so as to discuss their impact on the countries of the sub-region, especially in terms of the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and in order to boost cooperation and coordination within the CEMOC, according to APS.

A spokesman for the Movement for the uniqueness and Jihad in West Africa (Mujao) has announced the release of three of the seven Algerian diplomats taken hostage at Gao, on April 5.

The Mujao demanded 15 million euros to free the seven Algerian diplomats, including the consul of Algiers in Gao, northern Mali abducted on April 5. The spokesman of the jihadist movement linked to AQIM would not say whether a ransom was paid or not. The reasons for this release are not clear but, according to several sources, Algeria has put pressure on Arab notables in northern Mali in recent weeks. Until the hostage situation is resolved ( 4 Algerians including the Consul at Gao and 3 Europeans held by Mujao
