Seminar on “Enhancing Employability of Higher Education Graduates.

Mercredi 14 Novembre 2012

The British Council and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Training of Officers are organising, in collaboration with the Abdelmalek Essaadi University of Tetouan, a seminar on " Enhancing Employability of Higher Education Graduates : Which approaches and what performance measures or indicators?"
Seminar on “Enhancing Employability of Higher Education Graduates.
The seminar will be held on 19 – 20 November 2012 at the King Fahd Advanced School of Translation in Tangier, starting from 9.00.am.

This seminar will provide a forum for discussion and exchange of experiences and best practices in Morocco and the United Kingdom, in terms of improving employability and monitoring the integration of higher education laureates.

This seminar will be attended by vice-presidents of universities and officers in charge of monitoring laureates’ integration and university/enterprise relationships. It will also disseminate good practices with a view to improving the employability of laureates and facilitate their access to the labour market, and pave the way for a fruitful cooperation between the Moroccan and British universities.

This seminar is organized around two thematic seminars:

• Need for a shift from knowledge provision to students empowerment with skills for employability

• Comparative analysis of international best practices

The choice of these two themes is relevant on a number of counts. In fact, in terms of policy of professional integration, the importance of strategies and approaches for the preparation of laureates must take into account the needs of society, the economy, the job market, graduates and issues regarding talent pipelines (from university to the employer). Shall employability and career organization be placed at the centre of the university strategy? What are the tools of measuring the impact and what are the key indicators of performance? Is it important to develop partnerships with stakeholders (students, employers, past graduates, politicians / government ...)?

Approaches and processes are very diverse and hold specificities for each situation. Universities taking part in this seminar aim to share different Moroccan and British approaches and experiences, in order to enrich the debate and find the most appropriate way to monitor and support employability.

Hence, an action plan will be developed and monitored closely by the different parties.
