Security in Sahel: Bouaida urges common regional approach to fight terrorism

Washington - Minister-delegate for foreign affairs and cooperation Mbarka Bouaida called on Tuesday in Washington for a common regional approach to address security challenges in the Sahel and Maghreb region.

Bouaida, who was speaking during a meeting organized by the US State Department on security threats in the Sahel and Maghreb, stressed that "only a collective, inclusive and solidarity-based strategy involving all countries concerned is likely to overcome these transnational challenges that jeopardize the future of the entire region". 
 
The Moroccan diplomat underlined the importance of adopting comprehensive, integrated and multidimensional strategies including the economic, social, political, cultural and religious dimensions, stressing the importance of territorial integrity in strengthening regional security. 
 
Concerning south-south cooperation, Bouaida reiterated Morocco's readiness and commitment to share its expertise with African partners in order to achieve the desired goals.
