SILA: British author John Row introduces children to English

The author, storyteller and poet John Row British hosted a training workshop and introduction to the English language for children, using storytelling in Algiers on Saturday.

Organized within the framework of the 17th International Book Fair of Algiers (SILA), this workshop is part of the program of British Council (British cultural center in Algiers) presenting this edition of SILA with other European cultural institutions under the banner the Eunic (network of cultural institutions of the Member States of the European Union).
 
John Row, known for having delighted generations of readers throughout his 50-year career, presented  a workshop  on story tales for children  aged 11 to 16 years with an interactive approach to "develop oral but also listening and understanding the language. "
 
The storyteller has chosen a work written with British students using anecdotes to expand the "understanding of his audience of other cultures."
 
To the audience of thirty children and adults, John Row also showed that the story can also be used for learning foreign languages ​​illustrating each story with drawings and objects to explain the terms to children.
 
As part of their participation in SILA, other cultural centers of the Member States of the European Union also provides introductory courses in foreign languages ​​like the Austrian Embassy to the German language, the Instituto Cervantes for Spanish or the Portuguese Institute for Camoes.
 
The 17th edition of the International Book Fair of Algiers (SILA) h hasbeen eld at the Palais des Expositions since Thursday will continue until September 29.
 
 
John Row works with all age groups and has visited hundreds of schools around the UK, Germany, Ireland and Texas. A qualified teacher,he offers a programme of storytelling and poetry that help develop the listening and speaking skills for pupils as well as broadening their understanding of other cultures.

He uses anecdotes to bring the art of writing alive and builds stories with the students using a truly  interactive approach.  John Row works with all age groups and has visited hundreds of schools around the UK, Germany, Ireland and Texas. He appears at the International Poetry Festival, Eastern Haze and Strawberry Fair, as well as numerous village, town and city open air events.
