SIEL 2014: head of Govt. kicks off 20th edition
Casablanca - Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane gave, on Thursday in Casablanca, the kick-off of the 20th edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair (known by its French acronym SIEL), held on Feb. 13-23 under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

Benkirane, who was accompanied by the Ministers of Culture Mohamed Amine Sbihi, and of Youth and Sport Mohamed Ouzzine, welcomed in a keynote speech, the choice of ECOWAS countries (Economic Community States of West Africa ) as guests of honor, saying that this gesture reflects Morocco's commitment to its African roots and long-standing relations, as was illustrated by the recent visit of HM the King in Africa.
Held at the Casablanca fair under the theme "Living Cultural Morocco" and organized by the culture ministry in collaboration with the Casablanca office of fairs and exhibitions, the event is held on a surface area of 20,000 square meters with the participation of 54 countries, and 792 Moroccan and foreign exhibitors.
The Fair includes rich and diversified program with 120 activities by around 340 writers and lecturers, 75 of whom from abroad.
