Rural Commune Chairman Gets 3 years in Prison for Corruption
Rabat - Rabat Appellate Court on Monday sentenced a chairman of a rural commune in the province of Khemisset (north) to three years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams for corruption.

The official was sued for corruption after asking and receiving a bribe valued at 300,000 dirhams.

In May 2014, a manager of a company filed a complaint against the chairman, who had asked him for a bribe (300,000 dirhams) to issue a provisional permit for the subdivision equipped by the company.

The respondent was caught red-handed in possession of half the agreed sum.
