Royal cabinet questions Mustapha Ramid on adoptions of Moroccanchildren by foreigners

The royal cabinet has questioned the PJD Minister of Justice and Freedoms, Mustapha Ramid, on the issue of adoptions of Moroccan children by foreign nationals not resident in Morocco.

According to the Arabic-language newspaper al akhbar Yaoum, a letter signed by the advisor to the King, Omar Azziman was sent to Mustapha Ramid questioning him on this issue, which caused a crisis between Morocco and Spain, after Spanish families , wishing to adopt children from Morocco, were denied their requests by the Justice Department.

These families had then requested royal arbitration in their dispute with the Minister Mustapha Ramid, the ministry since its installation, has instituted draconian conditions concerning Kafala (adoption) of Moroccan children by foreign couples, invoking a moratorium for religious reasons.

Indeed, Ramid was told to do so after receiving reports that show that these Moroccan children are victims of  proselytising or operated by networks of human trafficking abroad.
