Renault plans an increase of its production capacity in Tangier - Melloussa

Renault Tangier is producing the economic product ranges Dacia Lodgy and Dacia Dokker.It plans an increase of its production capacity in the Tangier – Melloussa plant.

It has a current rate of 30 vehicles per hour and 170,000 cars per year and  a second phase of development is underway to bring the rate of 30  vehicles to 60 vehicles per hour or 350,000 cars a  year.
 
According to Just-Auto magazine, the outgoing year witnessed the manufacture  by Renault – Tangier of  nearly 50,000 units, including 40,000  Lodgy and 10,000 Dokker.
 
90% of production was exported to Europe and the Turkish plant manager,Tunc Basegmez acknowledged that the euro crisis has the European market somewhat timid and it is predicted that it will have a negative impact on the flow of products in the market.
 
He reassured nevertheless  that there remains other markets and developments where margins are very attractive, he cited the Eastern Europe, Turkey, Russia, adding that a hundred countries "are open to our vehicles," whereas unparalleled growth can be expected in North Africa, in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
 
Tunc Basegmez expects the production to 130,000 vehicles to be passed in the first part of 2013.
 
The Tanger Factory is unique due to its high flexibility, including a body and paint shop over the assembly line, it directly employs 4,000 employees while this figure will be in 7000 with the entry into force of the Phase 2 expansion plan, as well as the creation of 45,000 indirect jobs.

Nissan to return.
 
Because of the economic crisis of 2009, the combined economic Renault, Nissan Japanese had withdrawn funding from the factory in Tangier.
 
Agreement intra-partner Nissan then wanted to focus on the Indian plant group in Chennai.
 
 Just Auto reports that strong success at the Melloussa plant has revived interest in it, the Japanese manufacturer seems to be moving towards a relocation there of a portion of his production, including those sent to market neighbouring Europe.
 
The capacity of the Nissan plant will be 400,000 vehicles per year.
