Most Muslim countries have announced that Friday, July 20, 2012 will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan starts on Friday for most countries and on Saturday 21 July for Morocco.
The religious authorities in most Arab countries, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, the Palestinian territories, Algeria and Lebanon said that Thursday is the completing day of the month of Shaaban and Friday will be the beginning of Ramadan.

Muslims in European countries, such as France, Spain and Belgium will also start Ramadan on Friday.

The sacred month of Ramadan will begin on Saturday in Morocco, the  Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced on Thursday according to MAP. Oman,Syria,Iraq and Iran will also start on Saturday.
