In a statement released on Thursday, the League insisted on the illegal nature of this decision, explaining that the Sahara is the sole responsibility of the Security Council of the UN. The League also expressed condemnation of such decisions from the African Union which undermine the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

The statement finally called the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and his Personal Envoy for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, to assume their full responsibilities and address these maneuvers which undermine the security and stability of the region.
