Promotion of rural world hinges on convergence of programs and projects, head of Govt.
Rabat - The promotion of the rural world depends on coordination between the different actors concerned and the convergence of programs and projects, said, on Wednesday in Rabat, head of government Abdelilah Benkirane.

Benkirane, who was speaking at the monthly session on government general policy at the house of advisors, surveyed a series of large-scale projects launched by the government for rural development.
In this regard, the head of government cited the 2011-2015 territory development program to reinforce infrastructure in 503 rural communes, as well as the drinking water supply program for rural populations (PAGER) which brought access to drinking water in the rural area to 94.5% in 2014.
He also underlined the importance of the global rural electrification program (PERG) which linked over 98% of this population to the electric grid, in addition to the national rural roads program which increased access to roads to 78% in 2014.
He recalled the decision by the cabinet to increase the budget of the rural development fund from 500 million dirhams in 2011 to one billion dirhams in 2012, and 2 billion dirhams the following years.
