Press Release “First cohort of young public policy analysts: Presentation of process and results”
Rabat, November 28, 2012
The regional project YAANI – The Young Arab Analysts Network International – initiated by the British Council in collaboration with Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs – United Kingdom) and with the support of the British Embassy in Rabat- is hosting, in partnership with the Mediterranean Youth Forum (FOMEJE) a seminar on the theme “First cohort of young public policy analysts: Presentation of process and results” at the Golden Tulip Farah in Rabat on 7 December 2012 at 16h00.

During this event, the first Moroccan group of policy analysts will present the results of the work performed as part of the YAANI project’s first phase. The seminar will be held in the presence of experts, politicians, academicians, civil society activists, bloggers, and other youth groups. The seminar comes as a closing event for the first phase of YAANI project, which featured multiple workshops and trainings and gathered youth organizations with other CSOs and various state and non state actors at the national and regional levels.

“This event marks a milestone in YAANI’s journey; it is both the celebration of one exciting year of trainings and hands-on policy work, and the start of a new transitional phase of the project. There is a pleasant surprise to announce at the event – a new entity to enrich policy work in Morocco and the MENA” said Mouna Lyoubi, one of the participants.

The YAANI project is a network that unites the first generation of young policy analysts of the region. It provides an arena for dialogue, collaboration and action-research across the Arab region and the UK. The 35 young policy analysts from 5 countries of the MENA region: Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria Jordan and Egypt took part in trainings organized in Rabat, Mohammedia, Tunis, and Amman, and discussed six main themes: sustainable development, youth participation in the decision making process, good governance, education, medias, and violence against women.

The YAANI participants were also invited by the prestigious London-based Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) to discuss and debate the importance of youth involvement and participation and political and decision making processes in the MENA region. The panel discussions gathered over 200 participants.
