Policeman forced to shoot to save citizen in Casablanca, one girl dead

Rabat - A motorcycle policeman, from the Hay Hassani's police district in Casablanca, was forced to use his gun Sunday to stop seven people including two girls, killing one them, after catching them red-handed trying to steal a car under the threat of knives, the national police body DGSN said.

The suspected girl died on her way to the hospital, said the DGSN in a statement.

According to the preliminary probe, the police officer responded to a call for help by a citizen whose car was stolen by the drunk gangsters and faced violent resistance using knives when he attempted to stop them, which forced him to shoot warning shots. The forth bullet hit one of the gang female members, the source added.

Investigations are still going on to arrest the other gangsters for taking part in this theft and attempting to assault a policeman who intervened under the law to protect citizens' goods and security.
