Paris - The cities of Paris and Rabat signed, on Wednesday in Paris, a friendship and cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the historical and privileged ties between the two capitals. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and the Mayor of Rabat Mohamed Sadiki, ahead of the 14th France-Morocco High Level Meeting, under the chairmanship of Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani and French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

Under this agreement, which will replace the one signed in 2004, Paris and Rabat intend to encourage the exchange of experience and know-how for a sustainable and resilient urban development in the areas of ecological transition and sustainable mobility, culture and heritage, tourist and economic attractiveness, sustainable development and the francophonie. By virtue of this agreement, the two capitals commit to develop their cooperation, in particular through the sharing of good practices and the training of administrative and technical staff in the said fields. The agreement, to span four years renewable by tacit agreement, stipulates that this cooperation may extend to any decentralized cooperation project involving other bilateral and multilateral institutional partners and entrusts the monitoring of cooperation and exchanges programs to the Division of International Cooperation of the Rabat commune and to the General Delegation for International Relations of the city of Paris.
