Palestinian President arrives in Morocco

Marrakech - President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, arrived in Morocco on Thursday to take part in the 20th session of Al Quds Committee, an offshoot of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to meet in Marrakech this Jan.17-18 under the chairmanship of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The Palestinian president was welcomed at the Marrakech-Menara international airport by the Sovereign who was accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid.

The head of the Palestinian state was greeted by the Sovereign's advisor, Omar El Kebbaj, interior minister, Mohamed Hassad, minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar, General de Corps Hosni Benslimane, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, General de division Mimoun Mansouri, Commander of the Royal Guard, General director of the Police department, Bouchaib Rmail and spokesman of the Royal Palace and the Kingdom historiographer, Abdelhak Lamrini.

He was also greeted at the airport by the wali of the Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz region, Mohamed Faouzi, elected officials, representatives of local authorities, Palestine's ambassador in Morocco, Amine Ahmed Mohamed Abou Houseira and the embassy staff.

The 20th session of Al Quds Committee, chaired by HM the King, is part of the Sovereign's tireless action to defend the Palestinian cause and underscore the particular importance of Al Quds for the whole of Muslims and Christians.

The meeting is a clear call to the international community to shoulder its responsibility and face Israel's abuses meant to alter the Islamic and Christian legacy of the holy city and to act urgently to protect the religious legacy and civilization of the city.
