PM Jebali legislative elections late June and presidential elections early September 2013.

Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali suggested,on Thursday, that the legislative elections be held by late June, or early July, and that the first round of the presidential elections take place by early September and the second round two weeks later,TAP reported.

Presenting the Government's Declaration on the 2013 State Budget Bill, Mr. Jebali urged members of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) to set a precise timetable for the Assembly's works in order to complete the organisation of the coming elections in a reasonable time schedule.

He called on the NCA to findthe best means of sppeding up the electins process. The biggest challenge will be to deliver the draft constitution on time as it has been the subject of serious delays whichhave putbackthe election date.. The constitution will define Tunisia's future composition and the balance between secular  freedoms and islamic tradtion and practice.

He also called on the Labour Unionto observe tthe "social truce' which had been agreed following the attack on the UGTT's headquarters which led to the threat of a general strike.

He appealed to all political parties to complete the process of approving the draft consitution by dialogue and committment. Very shortly Mr Jebali willannounce a cabinet reshuffle and the resulting change in the balance of power amongst the three leading parties, the CPR,Ettakatol and Ennhada  in  cabinet could be affected.
