Nizar Baraka: Morocco threatened with a new 'heart attack'

Rabat: The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nizar Baraka,of the Istliqlal party said that Morocco was threatened with a 'heart attack', taking the formula of King Hassan II, which was used in the late 90s, before the House of Representatives.

Baraka was holding a press conference this week to outline an explanation of the government's decision to cancel public investment of $ 15 billion DH and warned that the accounts of the state are under threat.

 

Nizar Baraka pleaded that to get out of this situation, for economic transition of the same calibre of that policy, led by the King in 2011.

 

He announced that the next government council will approve "a new series of economic reforms."

 


For his part Nabil Benabdallah PPS and SG housing minister, said the government majority seeks to boost the economic machine in order to control the macroeconomic balances and straighten the deficit without touching the purchasing power of the population and general situation of the country.

 

At a press conference held by him in Rabat, the minister also said the government has no plans to increase prices or lower wages.

 

As a reminder, the IMF in its latest report on Morocco, called for the acceleration of the reform of the compensation fund and the pension system, and the implementation of structural reforms to improve the competitiveness of Moroccan economy.

 

In the same vein, some observers have estimated that the growing budget deficit could put the country's financial sovereignty in danger.
