Mr Abduljalil the then Chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC) gve different accounts,as did others of the death of General Abdel Fattah Younes, which has never been completely explained.Eleven people have so far been charged in connection with the murder case.

General Younes was viewed with suspicion because of his long term contacts with the former dictator,Muammar Gaddafi. His bullet ridden body was found on the outskirts of Benghazi after he had been recalled for questioning."The court demands the referral of Mustafa Abdel Jalil, former head of the NTC, to military prosecution for investigation in the case of Abdel Fattah Younes," judge Abdullah al-Saidi said in a statement on Wednesday. "We will then take a decision based on what the investigation reveals."

Earlier this year, Judge Jumah Hasan al-Jazwi investigating Gen Younes's death was gunned down on his way to a mosque in Benghazi.

There have now been some 17 targetted assasinations of officers and officials who served in the Gaddafi regime. No one has been convicted for these killings and itremains unclear who is responsible.
