Mortar Shell Fired on Eastern Tripoli: Moroccan Killed, Consulate

Tunis - A Moroccan national residing in Libya was killed, on Saturday evening, when a mortar shell was fired on eastern Tripoli, the Kingdom's Consulate General in Tunisia announced on Sunday. The consulate said it "learned with great regret the death of Moroccan national (A.Ch), aged 42 and living in Libya, following the firing on Saturday evening of a mortar shell on the Arada area of Souq Jomaa (East of Tripoli)". The consulate said it had undertaken, once informed, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, the procedures of identifying the family of the victim in order to inform them of this tragic news.

While expressing its sincere condolences to the family of the victim, it said that it is working, in coordination with the competent Libyan authorities, to repatriate the body of this Moroccan after the completion of the legal and administrative procedures in force. The Consulate General of the Kingdom in Tunis said that it will continue its contacts with the competent Libyan authorities to get informed about the conclusions of the investigation into this tragic event.
