Morocco tops north African countries in terms of FDIs, African press

Dakar - The Moroccan economy ranks first in north Africa and sixth in the continent in terms of foreign direct investments (FDIs) and Morocco has become the top African investor in the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) as well as in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), several African news outlets said.

According to an article entitled "Morocco, top African investor in CEMAC and UEMOA zones", published by several African news outlets, the Kingdom is currently negotiating to conclude strategic partnership agreements, including the gradual setting up of a free trade zone with ECOWAS and CEMAC.
 
Morocco is among the world's top producers of solar energy and is the top phosphate producer with 50% of world's phosphate reserves, it said, adding that the Kingdom ranked second in Africa (in the UNCTAD's 2013 report) in terms of trade facilitation.
 
According to some African experts, Morocco is also the fifth economic power in the continent as show the numerous projects carried out by Moroccan businessmen in many sectors (building, IT, electricity, finance..).
