Geneva - Morocco takes special interest in the evolution of the political and security situation in Mali, said on Wednesday in Geneva Morocco's permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Omar Hilale.

Speaking at the interactive dialogue with the Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Mali, the Moroccan diplomat reiterated the full solidarity of the Kingdom with this brotherly country that is facing an unprecedented crisis in its history. This crisis has threatened its security, stability, the functioning of its constitutional institutions and its territorial integrity, in addition to its humanitarian and political impact, said the ambassador who also cited the threat of this crisis to peace, stability and development of the Sahel and Sahara region.

He recalled in this regard the official visit by HM King Mohammed VI to Mali last February, six months after a first visit during which he took part in an important moment in the democratic and the institutional life of the Republic.
