Morocco supports French President's formula of "Mediterranean of projects"

Rabat - Morocco supports the French president's formula to promote a "Mediterranean of projects", said Moroccan Minister-delegate for foreign affairs and cooperation, Youssef Amrani who recalled the launching of projects designed by the Union for the Mediterranean, such as the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes.

Amrani, who met here this Monday French MP Michel Vauzelle, President of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and Envoy of the French Prime minister for the Mediterranean, said Morocco is resolved to consolidate the visibility and operational efficiency of the Union for the Mediterranean (UpM) as a regional framework boasting the needed assets to promote a new regional order generating ambitious partnership and cooperation in the Mediterranean.

He also called governments, parliaments, local governments and regions of the Euro-Mediterranean space to bring support to this project and make of the region an engine of regional social-economic development.

The French MP stressed that France needs Morocco in this period of economic crisis and is grateful to HM King Mohammed VI for his extremely positive role in reactivating the Mediterranean.

He further called the two countries to lead efforts meant to reduce fears that could exist in some unsafe regions, particularly regarding the upsurge of terrorist acts.Vauzelle also met with Moroccan head of government, Abdelilah Benkirane, with whom he reviewed a host of Morocco-France bilateral issues and fruitful cooperation.
