Marrakech - The Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Morocco's post "Barid Al-Maghrib" signed here on Thursday a convention for cooperation in several post-related fields.
The convention, signed on the sidelines of the 5th African Postal Forum (Dec. 4-5) themed "African post at a time of choices", provides for cooperation in various fields, particularly in facilitating trade, SME's development, financial inclusion, numeric post and south-south cooperation to the benefit of North, Central and Western African countries.
Under the convention, Berne-based UPU, established in 1874, will bring its support to Al-Maghrib's project on trade facilitation and SME's development, by promoting this initiative.
The two institutions had already cooperated in the establishment in 2012 in Rabat of a regional technical center that provides operational and technical support to French-speaking African countries and also conducted various training activities in 2013 and 2014 for some African and Arab countries.
