Morocco's FM represents Morocco in Central American Integration System summit in Dominican Republic

Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) - Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar arrived here on Wednesday to represent Morocco in the 43rd summit of the Central American Integration System scheduled for Friday.

Foreign minister of the Dominican Republic, Carlos Morales Troncoso, had announced that Morocco, alongside Turkey and New Zealand will take part as special guests in the summit of SICA which gathers eight countries (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.)

On the sidelines of the summit, Mezouar will hold a series of talks with peers from Central American countries.

Morocco was recently awarded the status of observer member in SICA, becoming the first Arab and African country to have such a status in this group.

In 1999, Morocco and SICA signed a cooperation agreement for consolidation of South-South cooperation.
