Minister of Habous and Islamic affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, said HM King Mohammed VI has issued instructions to reinforce fruitful cooperation relations between Morocco and Sub-Saharan African countries, particularly as regards the training of imams.
The minister made the announcement to reporters following a meeting with Guinea's secretary general for religious affairs, El Hadj Abdoulaye Diassy.
The meeting discussed details of the Guinean request, particularly the number of trainees and the nature of training to be given to the Guinean imams. Guinea also requested Moroccan assistance to establish a Wafq (Islamic endowments) institution, added the minister.
