Morocco, key-actor in counterterrorism fight in Sahel-Saharan region
Bamako - Morocco is becoming more and more a key-actor in the counterterrorism fight in the Sahel-Saharan region and this active involvement for security in the area, rocked by all kinds of conflicts and illegal activities, was reaffirmed again.

This commitment by Morocco, reiterated by HM King Mohammed VI during his trip to Mali in September 2013 and renewed in the Royal message to the Paris Summit on Peace and Security in Africa, was reaffirmed in the joint statement following the visit the Sovereign in Mali (February 18/23).
HM the King and Malian head of state Ibrahim Boubacar Keita reiterated their commitment to supporting efforts to revitalize the CEN-SAD in order to enable it meet the multiple needs of its members in the interest of peace and development in the Sahel-Saharan region, the statement said . Morocco's commitment is based on the correlation of development and security, combining the achievement of human development, the preservation of cultural and religious identity and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Sahel states through a frank and sustained inclusive security cooperation.
