Morocco is ranked 54th in the countries most at peace

The 2012 Global Peace Index, which rates countries of the most peaceful to more violent in the world, Morocco is ranked 54th out of 158 countries under scrutiny,The ranking is produced annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).

Morocco was ranked 54th in the world for the index of Peace and Security, the annual ranking, conducted by the American think tank IEP covering a list of 158 countries is the result of 23 studies assessing qualitative and quantitative indicators whose degrees peace, petty crime, organized crime, arms trade, the risk of internal conflict or external war.

Winning two up since the last ranking in 2011, the Kingdom was noted for a good estimate in terms of degree of crime and itsinfluence on normal operation of society and economy, a good perspective on comprehensive peace with the lower risk of seeing war like conflict internally or externally, even if the IEP stressed the potential
seriousness of the terrorist threat that may incur in the kingdom.

However, Morocco has been through in the human rights and the question of its relations with its eastern neighbor.Note that the MENA region with the exception of Morocco has been classified by the IEP as an area with high risk of degradation safe, citing the explanation of the large destabilization experienced by countries in the region as a result of the effects of the Arab Spring.

The ranking was dominated by Iceland, ranked safest country in the world, closely followed by New Zealand, Japan, Denmark and the Czech Republic. Tunisia is ranked 72nd position, Saudi Arabia to the 106th, the 111th in Egypt, Algeria to the 121st position, Turkey to the 130th, 147th to Libya, the Syria to the 147th. Note that Iraq is the most violent countries  in the MENA region and is at the 155th rank.
