Morocco: The Opposition wants a greater role in Parliament
The opposition says it is dissatisfied with the government's relations with Parliament. Members of the WFP, RNI, the USFP and the CPU are  taking every opportunity that presents itself to pinpoint the Executive in this regard.Le Matin reports.

The opposition parties accuse the government of  treating them with contempt in regard  to answering  parliamentary questions promptly and of trying to exclude them from the process of reviewing decisions on legisltion such as the increase in fuel prices. There are also complaints about a lack of access to expert opinions by  members of parliament. The demand for more government accountability is growing.

The  Minister for Relations with Parliament and civil society Habib Choubani. recently replied to a socialist MP's questionby saying that  the government was serious about its relations with parliament,  Le Matin writes.

The complaints about lack of involvement echo the points made in the Istliqal party's recent memorandum. The secretary general of the Istliqlal party, Hamid Chabat calls for more coalition involvement in government decision making and policy ,which should not, he says, be the sole preserve of the PJD which he accuses of acting as if it were the sole party in government.
