Jeudi 7 Janvier 2016

Rabat - Morocco and Sudan signed, here Wednesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on migration and the management of the affairs of nationals living abroad.
The agreement, inked by Moroccan minister in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs, Anis Birou, and Secretary General of the Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad, Majid Mohamed Sowar, aims to establish a cooperation framework between the two countries, as a platform for experience sharing in the fields of migration and the management of the affairs of nationals living abroad.

Given the huge challenges of migration, this MoU will have positive impact on the two countries' treatment of this issue, the Sudanese official told MAP.

He also lauded Morocco's pioneering experience in migration and asylum management in Africa and the Arab world, expressing his country's willingness to benefit from Morocco's expertise in these fields.

For his part, Mr. Birou said that Morocco is determined to enhance its efforts to safeguard the rights of Moroccans living abroad, notably in the light of the ongoing socio-political mutations in the world.

He said that his ministry is aware of the pivotal role played by Moroccans living abroad in the development of their country, noting that they contribute with 7pc of Morocco's Gross domestic product (GDP).
