Morocco Re-Elected to UPU Postal Operations Council for 2021-2024 Period
In a statement, the ministry said that the re-election of Morocco to the UPU's decision-making body reflects the position of the Kingdom as a major player in international cooperation in postal services and products.
"This re-election also acknowledges the leading role of Morocco in reinforcing the UPU as the main exchange forum for the development of the postal sector, in light of profound mutations due to the Covid-19 pandemic," the ministry explained, adding that this re-election also strengthens the Kingdom's efforts in turning postal services and products into a real vector of sustainable development.
The re-election of Morocco, alongside 47 other member states, shows the effectiveness of the Kingdom's strategy in accordance with the Royal Vision, which mobilized the Moroccan diplomatic apparatus, alongside ministerial departments to strengthening the presence of Morocco within International Organizations, it added.
By sitting for a second term, Morocco will further its rich contribution which lies in the modernization of postal services and products as well as the development of international technological and operational standards, it noted.
Established in 1874, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) is the second oldest international organization worldwide. With its 192 member countries, the UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a universal network of up-to-date products and services.
