Morocco, Portugal sign draft cooperation agreement in agricultural, sanitary and phytosanitary fields

Rabat - The minister of agriculture and sea fisheries Aziz Akhannouch and Portuguese secretary of state for food-processing industry Nuno Vieirae Brito signed, on Monday in Rabat, a draft cooperation agreement in the agricultural, sanitary and phytosanitary fields.

The draft agreement is an instrument to implement the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed, in April 2013 on the sidelines of Meknes International Agriculture Fair, with the Portuguese minister of agriculture and sea.

It touches also on sharing information, laws and experiences between the competent authorities in charge of animal and plant health as well as the production and marketing of agricultural products.

The agreement, which seeks to promote institutional and technical cooperation between the two countries, concerns also sharing good practices, information and expertize in the field of controlling and promoting product quality, technical cooperation in breeding and agricultural production, and technical assistance for certifying exports, analyses, control, labeling and inspection.
