Morocco: More than 11,000 jobs generated by Rawaj Plan - Amara

More than 11,000 jobs have been created under the Rawaj Plan during the period 2008-2013, through a program of modernisation of local business the Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies (MICNT), Abdelkader Amara said in Rabat on Thursday.

Mr. Amara presented at the Governing Council, a presentation on the theme "Rawaj: a participatory strategy for the operationalisation of structural projects in areas of trade and distribution," in which he indicated that the sector is the largest employer in the urban area (20.6 per cent of the population) and the second nationally enjoying no less than 1.4 million people.


Amongst the plan's accomplishments, he announced that more than 22,500 stores, over a hundred cities were upgraded with financial support of 564 million dirhams, which helped to achieve an increase in the turnover traders 1.4 billion dirhams (dirhams) and the added value of 1.8 billion dirhams.

He also indicated that the MICNT managed to attain 90 pc of its objectives and also to become leader of the project of "National Champions" 13 signs accompanying Moroccan term financing expertise (15 million dirhams) for the development of their network across regions.

 

Regarding future actions, Mr. Aama said an investment of 9.3 billion dirhams is planned for the period 2013-2017 in order to achieve various objectives, including the restructuring of wholesale markets of fruits and vegetables, organization of itinerant trade and the establishment of commercial zoning.

 

"Rawaj at the end of its mission, integrated 170,000 informal jobs in the formal sector, increased the tax contribution of the sector by 5 billion dirhams and 9 billion dirhams of GDP," he added.

 

For this, Mr. Amara has called on all partners to continue, alongside his department, with the national conquest unique site to register for sustainable development.
